CHURCH GROUPS

Board of Managers

The Board of Managers is responsible for all aspects of the practical needs of the congregation's life including church property and finances. It is responsible to and reports to the entire congregation. The board takes care of the cleaning contracts for the building, care of the grounds, maintenance and repairs. The board prepares the annual church budget for the approval of the Session and congregation. It organizes special fundraising events such as the yard sale. The board meets the second Tuesday of each month, except July and August.

Congregational Life

The Congregational Life Committee takes care of all matters concerning the spiritual and social life of the congregation. We plan and organize meals and social events. We oversee the Sunday School. The following are the activities that we have traditionally undertaken, but we are always open to trying something new. We meet three or four times a year.

  • Thanksgiving Decorations
  • Christmas Decorations
  • Anniversary Cake & Decorations
  • Photo Directory
  • Mission & Service

    The Mission & Service Committee is responsible for the outreach activities of the church as we seek to respond to local, national and international needs. We oversee the grants that are given from the Bown Mission Fund and we respond to various campaigns and requests that are put forward by the national church and other organizations. The following are the activities that we have tradionally undertaken, but we are always open to trying something new. We meet three or four times a year.

    • Meals on Wheels
    • Stamps
    • Tin Foil & Pop Can Tabs
    • Eyeglasses
    • Adopt-A-Family
    • Mitts for Kids
    • Food Bank
    • Operation Shoebox
    • Special Appeals.

    The Margaret Ramsay Auxiliary

    The Margaret Ramsay Auxiliary takes on many projects throughout the year. The following are some of the activities that we have tradionally undertaken. The money raised by this group helps to support the events they are involved with as well as donating money to the Board of Managers to help fulfill some of the financial obligations of the church. This group meets 10 times a year.

    • visit nursing and retirement homes monthly
    • support a child through World Vision
    • organized and put on a spring and fall rummage sale
    • held two chili lunches
    • support the Ministerial Food Bank monthly
    • serve at funeral lunches
    • provided a bake table at the annual yard sale
    • knit and sent blankets to missions overseas

    Ladies Aid

    The Ladies Aid participates in fundraisers. Their major fundraiser for the year is the annual Turkey Dinner held in October. The money raised is used to purchase items needed for the church. They also donate money to the Board of Managers to help fulfill some of the financial obligations of the church.

    Sunday School & Nursery

    Sunday School is held each Sunday for children in junior kindergarten to grade 8 during the regular church service .
    Preschool children are invited to stay in our supervised Nursery .

    Knox Players Present.....

    Reverend Scott McAndless works with the Sunday school children to produce video productions of bible stores. The children act out the stories which are filmed and presented to the congregation each week during service. It's a bible study for kids! The videos are then posted on Youtube
